All the children from Y2 to Y6 class have weekly group Violin or cello lesson with Mrs Helen Morgan on a Thursday. They begin with basic notes and playing without a bow and work towards notation and using a bow. These sessions are very practical and enjoyed by the children. At least once a year the children perform to parents.
Stogursey school also offers a recorder at lunch times.
Alongside the classroom music singing plays an important part in school life. A singing assembly is held once a week where children learn new songs and enjoy singing old favourities. At Christmas and in the Summer, the children perform a play to parents which always involves singing.
We also encourage participation in singing and music at regular events. We take part in the singing concert at the MacMillian theatre in Bridgwater each summer.
