Our Curriculum

Stogursey is a small village school of two classes. This means that we teach in a two year rolling cycle  for English and Maths, years 3 and 4 and 5 and 6 being taught together, in Key stage 2 and individual groups in Key stage1 (years 1 and 2). For all other subjects key stage 1 is taught in a two year rolling plan and Key stage 2 a  four year rolling plan. Reception children are taught as a discrete group along side our key stage 1 children.
The curriculum has been designed so that skills and knowledge are taught in progressions, teachers ensure that they adapt work for the age and stage of their children in each of the classes. Where prior knowledge is required for progressions units of work are grouped together in sequence to ensure pupils are able to master new concepts and skills.
In History we are unable to teach a chronological curriculum due to the mixed aged class so teachers ensure that they use timelines to demonstrate to pupils where in history different eras sit.
