Ofsted and Performance Data

Stogursey C of E Primary School was visited by Ofsted in May 2023, as part of a routine Section 5 Inspection. During their visit, the inspectors made many positive observations about the school and highlighted many of the great practices that are in place at school, including:

  • “Pupils at Stogursey Church of England Primary School are kind and considerate. They enjoy attending school. Relationships between adults and pupils are warm. Pupils say that everyone feels safe and that staff care for them.”

  • The school has “built strong, inclusive relationships with pupils and their families.

  • We are proud that our pre-school was recognised saying that children “make a strong start at pre-school. Leaders have clearly defined what is important for children to learn and by when. Teaching is supported by carefully chosen resources. Adults build learning around children’s interests skillfully. Children enjoy sharing books and join in with songs and rhymes. They are well-prepared for the transition into school.”

  • “Pupils with special educational needs (SEND) are supported well. Staff know their precise needs. The special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) works with a range of external agencies to provide carefully planned, individual support for pupils. This means pupils with SEND learn successfully.”

  • “Leaders are considerate of staff wellbeing. Staff appreciate the support leaders provide to help them to manage their workload. They say that they are proud to work at the school.”

We are incredibly proud of our children, staff and community despite the outcome being ‘Requires Improvement’. Our school, like many others has faced some significant challenges in the past few years and we feel confident that we are in an excellent place to move forward. The report is incredibly encouraging and provides reassurance that the school is on the right trajectory.

The report identified two areas for development. We have strategies for each of these in place and allocated a significant amount of funding to see quick and embedded improvement. Our priorities will be ensuring our children have access to an excellent education and keeping our parents informed of our progress. We have a fantastic staff team and committed parent community, which were evident to the inspector who made frequent references to our warm and welcoming community during their visit.
