Despite uncertainty over whether parents would be able to attend any sports days, we went ahead and it was a triumphant success! The rules were followed, competitive sports were held and a good time was had by all. Having the sports day return after a one-year gap due to pandemic was warmly received by the Stogursey Community.
There were relay races, bean bag races, running races as well as a tug of war. This was a new addition to the day and the determination on some of the children's faces was a joy to see!
Parents were really pleased to be able to return back to school events following the restrictions and did so in a safe manner distanced and sitting in house pens of no more than 30.
Children and staff really had a lot of fun with some doing much better than they thought they would.
Imogen said, "It was lovely to see parents back. I really surprised myself. I didn't think I'd win but I did!"
Winning House Captain Oakley (pictured) said this about his house,
"This was an unexpected result. During the preparations, I thought Farah House was looking good and might win but because I hadn't seen how well Alfoxton and Triscombe were doing in their PE lessons, we were able to put in a great effort and it was enough for us to win. It's lovely seeing how confident the younger children were and it made me feel confident as well."
It was a really close-run thing this year with only a few points separating the teams out. What a lovely way for the Year 6 Captains to finish their time at our school and for the school to finally do something together with the parents as well.
