Beacon (Y4/5/6) 'Doom and Gloom'' This Geography Topic is all about Natural Disasters.  This develops an idea of 'change' on our planet and to help children understand why such things occur, looking at the physical as well as human geography effects of things like volcanoes, earthquakes and tsunamis.

Alfoxton (Y2/3) 'Saxons vs Vikings' Unusually, children look at the impact of the Romans leaving Britain before actually studying them.  We hope this will give them something to connect to when they encounter it, similar to watching the Star Wars films out of order!  This outlines the conflict between the invaders and settlers in Britain and how each rebelled against each other's times of ruling these islands.
