This month, the school has worked extremely hard to put together a showing of Shakespeare's 'The Tempest'. The main actors were in Woodpecker class but for the first time, all members of our school had a crucial role to play in it making it a massive success.
Members of Kookaburra were Ariel's (played by Peter) sprites, the Jaba Waba Band and even some children played ghouls- designed to frighten the main characters who were up to no good. Hummingbird got in on the action by recreating a flashback scene playing miniature versions of the characters to retell events leading up to the play.
Special mentions go to Kitty who played the confused and conflicted Sebastian, George for his rapping version of the evil Antonio, Peter was very spritely as Ariel. Recognition was given to Alfie who was on and off the stage a lot playing the wronged wizard Prospero. Will deserves a special mention for his version of the bullied character Caliban, who just wanted to be left alone on his island making odd noises! Steph and Kristofer managed to carry out the very tricky love story dynamic of Miranda and Ferdinand really well with their 'goosepimples'.
Great feedback was offered by the audience including comments about the sets and costumes which staff, FOSS and children helped to produce but the most laughs in this comedy play were generated by the tomfoolery of Stephano and Trinculo played very ably by Junior and Thomas.
One parent said,
"The acting was the best we've seen. The children really interacted on the stage with each other."
A variety of music styles were used in the singing and dancing including Jazz, Rap, Spanish Flamenco, Gospel, Rock and many others.
Although this is the last one for the current Year Sixes, we look forward to seeing what comes next from our Stogursey Acting Troup! Well done to everyone!
