Miss Atwell (Class Teacher)
Mrs Wall (HLTA)
Mrs Cavill/Mrs Payne (TA)
Woodpecker class have had a busy summer term so far. We have been busy working on the school production 'The Tempest'. We have all took part in Sports Day, which was a glorious day. We still spend Wednesday afternoons practicing violin with Mrs Morgan. The Year 6's have been working relentlessly in preparation for SAT's, which they took earlier in the term.
In our topic session, we have been focusing on The Seaside, in particular 'The coast'. We took a day trip to Minehead beach to find out more about the coast (in the pouring rain). We spent some time on the beach and played some dodge ball at Minehead Eye. We have learnt about erosion and deposition and made particular focus on coastal features. Come and ask us, if you want to know more.
In English, we have looked at tension and suspense, writing with speech (direct and reported) and news paper reports, where we predicted the end of 'The Tempest'.
We have created our own individual Dream Island. We are going to use these, to create our own persuasive advert. We are currently learning about persuasive writing.
In Maths this term, we have learnt about Angles:
We have also learnt about shape:
Qualities of a 3D shape (vertices, edges and faces etc)
Qualities of a 2D shape (vertices, edges, faces etc)
We have learnt about polygons and quadrilaterals
